FPGA Engineer

<p>................</p><p>For our client in <strong>Vienna (AT)</strong>, we are looking for an experienced <strong>FPGA Engineer</strong> to contribute to the development of an advanced hardware and software platform for particle accelerator systems.</p><p>In this role, you will design and implement FPGA-based solutions for real-time control, high-speed data communication, and synchronized operations within a technically demanding and regulated medical-device environment.</p><p><strong>Your Tasks:</strong></p><ul><li>Design, develop, and integrate <strong>FPGA-based embedded systems</strong> using Xilinx Zynq platforms</li><li>Develop and maintain FPGA firmware frameworks, register maps, and hardware/software interfaces</li><li>Implement and optimize <strong>PCIe communication</strong> and FPGA-to-Linux integration, including efficient data transfer and DMA mechanisms</li><li>Design and implement <strong>high-speed optical communication interfaces</strong>, including Fiber Link MAP, GT transceivers, and custom communication protocols</li><li>Optimize communication performance with a focus on <strong>bandwidth, latency, and reliability</strong></li><li>Contribute to the development of real-time measurement, control, and synchronized timing systems for particle accelerator components</li><li>Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration into a unified control platform</li><li>Support verification, testing, and technical documentation in accordance with regulated EU medical-device development processes</li><li> </li></ul><p><strong>Your Profile:</strong></p><ul><li>Degree in <strong>Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems</strong>, or a comparable technical discipline</li><li>Strong hands-on experience in <strong>FPGA development</strong>, particularly with Xilinx Zynq-based embedded platforms</li><li>Solid understanding of FPGA firmware architectures, register maps, and hardware/software integration</li><li>Practical experience with <strong>PCIe interfaces, FPGA-to-Linux communication, and DMA-based data transfers</strong></li><li>Strong knowledge of <strong>high-speed optical links, GT transceivers, and communication protocol development</strong>, ideally including Fiber Link MAP</li><li>Experience in optimizing FPGA communication systems for high throughput and low latency</li><li>Familiarity with embedded Linux and/or bare-metal environments is an advantage</li><li>Experience with real-time systems, synchronization, or timing-critical applications is beneficial</li><li>Knowledge of regulated development environments, ideally within the medical-device industry, is a plus</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a structured and collaborative working approach</li><li>Good communication skills in <strong>English or German</strong></li></ul><p>Find more <a href="https://www.arbeitnow.ch/english-speaking-jobs">English Speaking Jobs in Switzerland</a> on Arbeitnow</a>
