Senior AI Engineer — Document Intelligence

Our initial focus is maritime, with applications across manufacturing, aerospace, and defence.</p><p>We combine document intelligence with S1000D authoring to help technical teams extract maintenance information, create documentation, and verify AI-generated suggestions against their sources.</p><h3>Your role</h3><p>You will own the AI capabilities behind our document intelligence platform—from understanding complex PDFs to extracting information that engineers can review and use.</p><h3>What you’ll do</h3><ul><li><p>Build pipelines for document parsing, OCR, layout understanding, and extraction from text, tables, and diagrams.</p></li><li><p>Develop retrieval and AI workflows for technical question answering and maintenance information extraction.</p></li><li><p>Design structured outputs with validation and references to source documents.</p></li><li><p>Build evaluation datasets and measure extraction accuracy, retrieval quality, and unsupported outputs.</p></li><li><p>Improve model performance, processing speed, and cost across cloud and private deployments.</p></li><li><p>Work with product and engineering colleagues to bring prototypes into production.</p></li></ul><h3>What you bring</h3><ul><li><p>Experience delivering AI or machine learning systems into production.</p></li><li><p>Strong Python and software engineering skills.</p></li><li><p>Practical experience with LLMs, structured extraction, retrieval, and evaluation.</p></li><li><p>An understanding of document processing challenges, including imperfect scans and complex layouts.</p></li><li><p>The ability to investigate failures systematically and make clear technical trade-offs.</p></li><li><p>Clear communication in English.</p></li></ul><h3>Useful additional experience</h3><ul><li><p>Technical manuals, industrial documentation</p></li><li><p>Multimodal models, open-source model deployment, or GPU inference.</p></li><li><p>Private, on-premises, or restricted-network environments.</p></li></ul><h3>Why join Tracium?</h3><p>Help shape the core AI architecture of an early-stage product, work directly with the founders, and solve document problems with clear operational value.</p><p></p><p><strong>Follow our journey</strong><br>Follow Tracium on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/tracium/ for product updates, engineering insights, and future opportunities.</p><h3>Apply</h3><p>Apply with the button on the page, attach your CV or professional profile and a brief example of an AI system you have built.
